PROJECTS

We create high quality projects, responding to the learning needs of individual groups, or two or three separate groups may collaborate on a project, thereby learning more about each other in a stimulating and supportive environment.

Participants’ work is presented in a professional way, in both professional and community venues, so as to place value on peoples’ work and maximise the positive effect that creative participation can have on people’s lives.

As well as one-off projects, we often work to a theme and have been exploring the elements. So far we have completed earth, water and air, with fire as our next theme. Each individual project feeds into a concluding performance and exhibition with all the participating groups, their friends and families, coming together to celebrate the participants’ creative achievements

Handmade

The idea to have a new community-generated parade in Hebden Bridge was originally suggested by Andrew Kim, of Thingumajig Theatre. A partnership between HEADS and Thingumajig Theatre quickly formed, HEADS sharing the dream of a community parade that represented the talent and enthusiasm for the arts, present in our small Pennine town.

A visual arts project to commemorate the bi-centenary of the 1807 abolition of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade.
Drawing in the Air
Drawing in Air explored the elemental and symbolic qualities of air.
Drawing on Water
Drawing on Water explored the elemental and symbolic qualities of water.
Drawing on the Earth
Participants visited archaeological sites and took part in workshops at the studio gallery to create an exhibition of work, Drawing on the Earth.
